Out In The Stars
Sitting atop Mt. Tam the mist rolls in enveloping me in the clouds of heaven,
Droplets of mist land on my lips like butterfly kisses,
One rain drop falls into the palm of my hands,
Like a blessing received in my begging bowl – palms together in prayer, mantra, meditation,
I open my eyes and see nothingness,
Sparkling, white nothingness,
My thirst is quenched by the rain,
High, high out in the stars – out in Eternity,
I sit watching Me float by,
As the cold dissipates into heat,
And the wind blows Me clear,
I stand to take a bow,
And find I am nowhere to be found,
Out in the Stars
A Washer of Life
As I listen to the hum and swish of the dishwasher
I find myself realizing life is like a dishwasher,
We go through the various cycles of life like the dishwasher –
The wash cycle, the rinse cycle, the dry cycle,
And then we end up at the beginning again.
Accumulating dirt from the world we live in
And back through the cycles we go
To be sprayed, soaped, and scrubbed
Just to rinse it all away.
Looking towards that day when we’ve cycled through it all
To be removed from the dishwasher all together
In a way, to be let out of the confines of the world
Into Eternity – That is Enlightenment.
